Man 22 dies in A34 crash

A man has died following a serious road traffic collision on the A34 Congleton Road.

Police were called to the scene of the collision between Pexhill Road and Blackden Lane just before 3pm on Tuesday, 18th October.

Four vehicles were involved, a silver Peugeot 306, a silver Mercedes, a green BMW and a white Iveco van.

The driver of the silver Peugeot 306, a 22-year-old man from Altrincham, died at the scene. The other drivers suffered minor injuries.

The A34 was closed at Monks Heath crossroads down Congleton Road up to the junction with School Lane. Closures were also in place at Siddington Bank Crossroads at the junction with Pexhill Road. The road was closed for over seven hours but has since re-opened.

Following this fatal accident, a 22 year old male from Macclesfield was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Wednesday 19th October.

He has since been interviewed and released on bail.
