A 22 year old man from Alderley Edge is critically ill in hospital following a serious collision on Knutsford Road.
Cheshire Police and and emergency services attended the serious road traffic collision on the A537, Knutsford Road in Chelford at 4.06pm on Wednesday, 15th June.
A Red VW Golf car driven by a male from Alderley Edge and a Mercedes Sprinter Van driven by a 37 year old male from Altrincham were involved in the collision close to the junction with Pepper Street.
At the time of the collision the VW Golf was travelling southbound along the A537 Knutsford Road, from the direction of Knutsford towards Chelford when it collided head on with the Mercedes Sprinter van that was travelling northbound towards Knutsford.
As a result of the collision the driver of the VW Golf received serious head injuries and was was taken to Macclesfield General Hospital for emergency treatment. His condition is described as critical.
The driver of the mercedes sprinter van received minor cuts and bruising.
Eastern CID Roads Policing Unit are currently seeking witnesses to the collision and are particularly interested to hear from anybody that may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision taking place.

Update: Unfortunately we have just been informed that the man's condition has deteriorated and is now described as "critical poorly."
