The reformed Cheshire cycling club 'Cyclesport International' held its club launch at The Edge on Sunday, 1st May.

After a ride of about 40 miles, the Alderley Edge based club made their way up to the National Trust site in warm spring sunshine.

The club was established in 1996 in the Tameside and High Peak area, but disbanded around 2003.

Jon Williams said "Myself and another of the founder members moved from High Peak to Alderley Edge five years ago. We realised that many of the new breed of road cyclists in the area were not in clubs, but would benefit by being in one, so last November we starting work on setting up a club in the area.

"We now have over 25 members including two British Cycling Level Two Coaches, we get enquires from two or three potential members a week and we have new kit from MSTINA in Italy.

"The club has also made history, this year is the first time it has been an affiliate to British Cycling and we cannot not see how any club could operate today without being part of British Cycling."

Cyclesport International meet at The Parade in Alderley Edge at 10.00am on Sundays and also have a "Pain Friday" training ride that is not for the faint harted.
