On Monday 11th April, I attended the monthly meeting of Alderley Edge Parish Council.

Since then I have reported on some of the issues raised at the meeting, including an update regarding plans to relocate the Alderley Edge Surgery from George Street to the Festival Hall - which remain in a state of limbo.

Another lengthy discussion took place regarding the street parking review and Councillor Mike Williamson reported that a meeting had been held with residents from certain streets in the village to identify their concerns regarding parking.

Speaking about the meeting, which took place on Monday 4th April, Councillor Williamson said "It had been an interesting meeting and very worthwhile. There were several matters discussed which can be moved forward." Click here to read my article about the parking meeting which I attended along with over 50 local residents.

I also published an article about the Parish Council's view on the devolution process, whereby parish councils are being encouraged to take ownership of, and responsibility for various local assets and services such as allotments, Christmas lights and trees, hanging baskets, street names, bus shelters, play areas and public toilets.

As reported earlier this month, there will be no election for the Parish Council on May 5th because it has not been contested. There are nine seats on Alderley Edge Parish Council and only nine candidates registered. However, we will have three new parish councillors from next month: Joseph Bergin, Melanie Connor and Sue Joseph will replace Alan Jones, Paul Tomlinson and Yvonne Wrinch who decided not to stand for re-election.

The changes at the Parish Council will not come in to effect until after the local elections on Thursday May 5th, however click here to read about the new faces on our Parish Council.

The minutes of this months Parish Council Annual Meeting are now available, click here to read about all the local issues covered.

The Alderley Edge Parish Council meet once a month, with the exception of August. All meetings are open to the public and are held in the Council Chamber at the Festival Hall. Dates and further details for the forthcoming meetings can be found in our events section.
