Nursery celebrations for Alderley girls

Local children's author, Caryl Hart officially opened the new outdoor play facilities at Alderley Edge School for Girls this week. It was an exciting day for the girls in the Nursery, Reception and Year One especially as their parents were invited to join in with the celebrations.

Girls changed into party clothes for the event and enjoyed lots of fun activities with Caryl in addition to learning about what provides her with inspiration for stories. Caryl read her book - 'Don't Dip Your Chips in Your Drink Kate' to the girls which has been short-listed for the Sheffield Children's Book Award 2010. Caryl was also accompanied by Sue Steele from the award-winning Bramhall based bookshop, Simply Books.

After the reading, the girls decorated party hats and went out to watch Caryl cut the ribbon and listen to a poem which was especially written for the opening ceremony. Celebratory refreshments were served shortly after the Nursery was declared officially open.

Headmaster of the Junior School, Mr Lawrence Groves commented, "We were keen to mark the opening with a special occasion and would like to thank Caryl and Sue for joining us, the girls had a great day and it was a pleasure to host our parents and members of the local community.

"Our Early Years facilities are really outstanding and we encourage anyone interested in joining us or wanting to take a look at our school to arrange a visit at the School for a guided tour or join one of our working day tours."
