New police priorities set for Alderley Edge

The following priorities have been set by Sergeant Steve Sheppard having considered the information held on police systems and the results of public engagement in the Alderley Edge area.

• To continue to visibly patrol the park areas of Alderley Edge in the evenings to address concerns about young people committing anti-social behaviour.

• Targeting people involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs in and around the Alderley Edge area.

Sergeant Steve Sheppard said "We have listened to your concerns that people may be dealing drugs or using drugs in this area and we are working hard to address them. It is obviously not appropriate to go into detail on this website, but intelligence continues to be developed with a view to police officers and partner agencies working together to tackle any persons possessing or dealing in illegal substances."

"In response to concerns that young people go to the parks after dark, make a noise and leave their rubbish which is ruining the place, Alderley Edge officers have been patrolling this area after dark as part of Operation Capsule.

"Some youths have been spoken to and given advise regarding their conduct but we have still received further complaints. We will be looking at other ways to address this problem in the coming weeks."

Local residents can let the police know what matters to them by reporting crimes and anti-social behaviour, emailing their views, going along to the next pledge meeting, which will be listed on alderleyedge.com, or volunteering to become a Special Constable or Police Support Volunteer.
