Free summer holiday activities

wipeout

Cheshire East Council have put together a new programme of events for the summer holidays, with a variety of activities suitable for all ages and abilities. All sessions are free and will be held in children's centres, parks and multi-use games areas - so if you're looking for something to occupy the children and keep them active during the holidays then pop along and join in.

Events kick off in Alderley Edge on Thursday July 29th with an Active Play session at Beech Road Park. Suitable for everyone up to the age of 19, there will be fun and games including earth balls, parachutes and dodge ball. The session will take place from 11.00am to 12.30pm and all children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent. In the afternoon the rangers will be in Alderley Edge Park for a mask making event from 1.00pm until 3.00pm.

Then the following week "It's a Wipe-out" will be held at Alderley Edge Park on Friday 6th August. Between 1pm and 4pm a selection of activities will be available, including inflatables, slip and slides, dance mats, skate and BMX jams, play activities, bowls, face painting and a climbing wall. There will also be the opportunity to meet with members of the local fire brigade and police.

Further Active Play sessions will be held every day across Wilmslow during the week commencing Monday 9th August and action packed sessions of sport, play and leisure activities designed for all the family will be held every Monday at Oakenclough Children's Centre and every Thursday at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

I don't think Beech Road Park is in Alderley Edge (the morning activity on Thursday) - I've searched for it and the map suggests it is south of Macclesfield / Tytherington & near Langley. Bit of a shame as I was looking forward to making a day of it - activity in the AM, picnic lunch & mask making in the afternoon! Will go along to do the mask making in Alderley Edge park though as I'm sure my girls will love it! Well done East Cheshire Council for putting this type of thing on across the borough! It's a long 8 weeks!!!

Beech Road Park is in Alderley Edge. If you go down Heyes Lane, past Granthams and then take a left on to Oakfield Road - bear right and you'll come to Beech Road and the park.
