The traditional village fete is back

Following on from its hugely successful debut last summer the Alderley Edge Village Fete is back.

It will be held at the Cricket Club on Sunday 27th June and promises to be a fantastic fun day out with something for everyone.

Entertainment for the children will include; a fun fair, face painting, arts and crafts corner, Little Strikers football, apple bobbing and a lucky dip. Whilst for the grown ups there is a tug of war, laser clay pigeon shooting, laser golf and an adult penalty shoot out. As well as a BBQ, Pimms tent, icecream and a bar.

There will be a large marquee filled with stall holders selling local produce, including; gifts, jewellery, clothing, local brewed beer and delicious homemade cakes and tarts.

Last year a number of visitors were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of produce available from local businesses, but disappointed not to have brought enough money with them so come prepared as the marquee will be full of some really gorgeous products.

The ladies from Fulshaw WI will also be there selling home made cakes and cups of tea in the open end of the marquee.

Local school choirs and musicians will perform on stage throughout the afternoon, along with a number of dance displays. New for this year, will be demonstrations from the different sections of Alderley Edge Cricket Club, including the hockey section who will holding a 24 hour hockey game to raise money for their new astroturf pitch at The Ryleys playing fields.

The village fete, which really is a highlight in the Alderley Edge social calendar, is organised by Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree, who explained "The idea is to create a traditional village fete to bring the community together and raise money for a local charity. Last year we raised funds for improving the village park and this year our chosen charity is the Alderley Edge Festival which encourages children to express themselves through music, speech and drama."

"Whilst we are adding more content, we will be keeping the same village fete feel as last year and we hope that everyone has a really enjoyable day."

The village fete will open at 2.00pm and close at 5.30/6.00pm, with a raffle drawn at 5.00pm.

We will be putting a collection of photographs from the village fete on alderleyedge.com, so if you attend and take some good pics please email them to [email protected] as soon after the event as possible, with captions if you wish.

We have received confirmation from the chairman at Alderley Edge Cricket Club that the football will be shown on Sunday afternoon.

There will be two televisions, one in the main area by the bar and one in the committee room - so people can enjoy a beer watching England v Germany at the club as well as supporting the village fete.
