Charity Christmas card shop set to re-open giving every penny to good causes

The Charity Christmas Card Shop will be opening in Wilmslow later this month providing local residents the opportunity to support their favourite charities simply by purchasing Christmas cards.

The card shops are renowned for giving 100% of sales back to the charities they supports, something quite unique in this day, and since being started by Sheila Hallas MBE in 1971 the shops have raised almost £6.5m.

This is possible as all workers in the shops are volunteers and any overheads are covered by the sale of the gifts, wrapping paper, toys and novelties also available in the shops.

Over 40 local and national charities, including health and children's charities will be available to purchase, with each charity averaging 10 different designs.

Volunteer Jill Dodson said "Each year Charities are finding it harder and harder to raise money. Selling Charity Christmas Cards is one solution that works and selling them through the Christmas Card shops works even better as all profits are recouped.

"The charities also tell us how they love to be involved, manning the shop whilst chatting to our customers in a lovely friendly Christmassy setting. Please visit us and experience the ambience of our shops while doing some good for others."

The shop in Wilmslow Library will be open from 26th October to 7th December and will be open in line with the library hours.
