Twenty grants have been awarded to local cultural and heritage organisations across the borough.
In total, the groups received £80,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The funds have been distributed to local organisations with a wide variety of cultural interests.
The successful applicants all had to demonstrate how their project might contribute to increased local pride and belonging, all while providing access to cultural experience.
Local projects to benefit from funding support included the Wilmslow Show who were awarded £520, Alderley Edge Station Voluntary Group who received £860 for the installation of some heritage information panels at the station and Transition Wilmslow who received £4900 towards the costs of the Art Trail.
The Window on Lindow Art Trail around Lindow Moss, which opened on 20th June, includes works by children from six local schools – Lindow, Gorsey Bank, Wilmslow Academy, St Annes and Ashdene Primary Schools and Wilmslow High - as well as installations by professional artists.
Phil Barton organiser of the Trail said "The Window on Lindow Art Trail is an important part of the celebratory programme of activities marking both the 40 th Anniversary of the discovery of Lindow Man and the commencement of the restoration of Lindow Moss peat bog and the wider Lindow Landscape.
"The importance of the interface between art, science, nature and culture cannot be overstated given the climate and ecological crises facing us all. This grant has helped us to engage young people and visitors in new ways of understanding and valuing Wilmslow's cultural and natural heritage. I hope the further understanding of this importance engendered by Window on Lindow will prove to be a meaningful and lasting legacy for the future of the wonderful Lindow landscape; of the countryside on our doorsteps."
Councillor Michael Gorman, chair of Cheshire East Council's economy and growth committee, said: "One of the most positive elements about this funding has been the incredible diversity of the projects that we have been able to support right across the borough.
"Preserving our heritage and passing on information and the sheer passion that creativity fosters, is something that is very hard to quantify but these wonderful organisations have that incredible passion and enthusiasm in spades, so we're really happy to let that flourish."
Funding has also been granted to a mini arts and cultural festival in Congleton called 'The Green Island Fiesta', a story-telling festival in Crewe, a musicians in residence programme at Leighton Hospital and Crewe Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundations Trust to work with professional musicians, to deliver a course of 'music culture and care' for in-patients.
