Staff are busy clearing up this morning following a break in last night at Daniel's shoe shop on London Road.
At around 9 pm yesterday evening a large metal block, wrapped in a blanket, was thrown through the door.
The shop was littered with shattered glass but speaking to the ladies this morning it appears that nothing was taken.
Inspector Welsted said "Whilst burglaries of non-dwelling buildings are rare this is a very visual crime which has occurred on the high street and is taken seriously. Crime Scene Investigators have attended and we are appealing for witnesses."
