International links for AESG

Pupils from Alderley Edge School for Girls recently travelled to Spain as part of the Comenius programme, a two-year educational project which links schools in the UK to those in France, Finland, Germany and Spain.

Working together in international teams, the girls took part in the "We are tomorrow’s Europe" project and produced podcasts about environmental change.

Ann Bush, Comenius leader and teacher of German at Alderley Edge School for Girls commented, "We have been a part of the Comenius programme for ten years and feel that enabling our pupils to work and meet with those of other nationalities is an excellent way for our girls to broaden their horizons and turn their text book knowledge into reality. By communicating with colleagues in the European Union via email, web conferences and virtual learning platforms, both modern language and IT skills are developed to the full".

In addition to the educational experience, the group enjoyed several cultural visits and stayed with families of those participating to get an authentic flavour of Spanish life.
