Free home safety assessments

Home Safety Advice

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service will be in Alderley Edge on Wednesday February 17th fitting free smoke alarms and giving out advice to help you stay safe in your home.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is aiming to go further than it ever has before by completing a staggering 1000 Home Safety Assessments on Cheshire Safety Day, in a bid to promote fire safety and highlight the work of the fire and rescue service. Everyone they visit will also be entered into a free prize draw with the chance to win tickets to a local attraction.

Crews from Wilmslow will be concentrating their efforts in Alderley Edge. "This area has been identified due to the number of accidental dwelling fires occurring, the large proportion of residents over 65 and other operational considerations specific to these areas." They will have two partner agencies on the day, BUPA and Cheshire Peaks and Plains Housing Association.

During the morning crews will be visiting Brookview Retirement Apartments on Brook Lane, accompanied by the BUPA warden, and also concentrating on direct engagement activities on Wood Gardens, Elm Crescent and Elmfield Road.

During the afternoon crews will be visiting Holmfield Apartments on Carlisle Street, accompanied by Cheshire Peaks and Plains Community Support Coordinator, and concentrating on direct engagement activities on Arderne Place, South Street, Carlisle Street and Lydiat Lane.

To support their aim of delivering Home Safety Assessments, colleagues from the headquarters will also be out in the community on the day, pairing up with firefighters and advocates to deliver safety messages. The main focus for this activity will be the fire engine which will be situated outside the shops on Elmfield Road in the morning and Holmfield Apartments on Carlise Street in the afternoon.

If you would like to help them reach their 1000 Home Safety Assessment target on 17th February then call 01270 254907 to request a home safety assessment. You will then have the chance to win one of the great prizes, including tickets to Blue Planet Aquarium, Gulliver's World, Lakeside Superbowl and Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes.
