Hough Lane will be closed for three days next week to enable surface dressing to take place.

Councillor Craig Browne said "I am pleased to confirm that surface dressing will be taking place on Hough Lane next week, as part of the latest phase of improvements to our local roads. Later in the year, Wilmslow Road and London Road are due to be resurfaced, all the way from Horseshoe Farm up to Natwest Bank.

The work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 31st May.

Councillor Browne added "Later in the year, Wilmslow Road and London Road are due to be resurfaced, all the way from Horseshoe Farm up to Natwest Bank."

Is there a plan to do the same down the length of Heyes Lane at all??

Hi Fiona,

Yes, indeed there is.

It is proposed to completely resurface the section from the layby on Hough Lane, to the junction outside Grantham's shop on Heyes Lane, including the entrance to The Circuit.

Hopefully, the work will be carried out later this year.

Kind regards,
Craig

Hope they don't make the same mess as when they surface dressed Chorley Hall Lane a few years ago - there was loss gravel everywhere for months and months after, the drains were all blocked by it and the gutters full of it. Once the tar has set and the gravel compacted by the movement of cars on it, then it should be properly swept !

Hi Craig, It's a shame the whole length of Heyes lane is not being dealt with but half of it being done is better than none of it being done. Thanks for your reply

Let's hope the leaks are repaired before the re-surfacing to avoid the re-surfacing being wasted..

Hi Craig and all. I spoke to a senior Highways Officer yesterday and she (I wont name her) having confirmed all you have stated re. Alderley Edge road resurfacing schedules a few weeks back has now had to retract her statement to me on this. Heyes Lane has been put back to next year now and there are NO plans to do any work on any section of that road in the near future. There has been naught but obfuscation and excuse from Highways on this issue. I reported after Xmas the deterioration of the edge of the carriageway (just before the village limit sign) on Heyes Lane (toward Wilmslow and before one gets to the less used Hough Lane). Granted this deterioration is due to water ingress from the flood plain but there is NO surface in sections and one cannot avoid using the whole edge of road frequently and especially if one meets one of the school Coaches negotiating the bend on the other side. They will not even send the "patch and repair" machine I have logged 14 pot holes since January this year around Cheshire East and only one has been deemed suitable for repair. The rest are not considered serious enough even though many are on main roads and some are deeper than 5". Having compared notes with other residents it would seem that customer contact centre and the "report a pot hole" log on the website are a waste of space. Nothing is being done under the current administration. Ringway Jacob are playing deaf and we are ignored on a daily basis. Is CE Highways in dire crisis has the money designated for Highways gone towards the £1000 a day payout for our temp Section 101 officer? Someone is clearly just "arranging" the chairs on the deck of the sinking ship that is CEC....

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for your post. It is somewhat difficult for me to comment without knowing the source of your information. All I can say is that it is in stark contrast with the conversations I have been having with various Highways Officers, the most recent of which was at Heyes Lane yesterday morning.

I use the online reporting tool http://bit.ly/2qOjJnG regularly and although they are not always able to respond as quickly as any of us would like, they do generally respond and usually the work is eventually carried out.

The Highways Officers are mostly doing a very difficult job with extremely limited funds. In recent weeks they have resurfaced the footpaths on Beech Close, Oakfield Road & Moss Road; this week they have surface dressed Hough Lane and next week they will be doing patching work on the top section of Trafford Road.

I would be happy to come and see you to discuss any ongoing issues, if that would help.

Kind regards,
Craig
