Sneak peek inside Alderley's newest restaurant

Today I have taken a sneak peek inside Alderley Edge's newest restaurant as the final touches are being made ahead of its VIP launch party this evening.

Blue Lobster, located on the corner of London Road and Brown Street, will open to the public from Saturday, 1st April, serving Italian seafood every night until 12pm.

The premises, which were previously occupied by Tomfoolery, have been completely transformed with a bar downstairs and a top floor restaurant providing over 80 covers.

Head Chef Mirko Capamaggi will be dishing up authentic Italian food, which will be sourced directly from Rome.

Served until late every night, the menu boasts a selection of seafood dishes including mussels, rum lobster, gin & tonic oyster, paccheri pasta with seafood and tuna steak. There are also a number of options for those preferring meat including Barbary duck breast, fillet steak and spaghetti bolognese as well as vegetarian options.

Blue Lobster also features the area's first dedicated 'Franciacorta' bar, made near Milan in Lombardy, Franciacorta was Italy's first wine to be produced in the classic "Champagne" method. An evolution of Prosecco, this sparkling tipple is celebrated for its richness and complexity and Blue Lobster will be one of a few venues in the area to offer the drink.

Blue Lobster is the brainchild of Andrea Zacchino and Nino Caruso, who are founders of popular wine cafe chain Veeno, which was set up in 2013 and now has 11 branches in the UK.

Owner Andrea Zacchino said: "Blue Lobster is all about traditional Italian ambience and authenticity and so everything from the sparkling wine to the Chef has been sourced directly from Italy. This is also why we extended the dining hours to facilitate a more relaxed, Mediterranean dining culture.

"Although Blue Lobster is a new venture, it will capitalise on our extensive management experience and combined with the experience of our acclaimed Head Chef and consultants, we are satisfied we can establish Blue Lobster as Alderley Edge's premium seafood restaurant of choice."

Sue and I called for coffee at the Blue Lobster this morning and were informed by Stephen the manager there at the time that we were the first official customers as last night was an invitation only event. So pleased to have been there at the start, we had a look around and if the calm, classy decor is anything to go by it will be a great addition to the village. The food ought to be good as well, looking at the menu. Good luck for a great new venue.

Thanks for the free coffees !
