The times they are a-changin as The Yard closes cafe and shop

DSCN2571

A village eatery and events venue has announced a restructuring of the business this week.

The Yard, which has been trading in the village for four and a half years, will no longer open as a cafe and gift shop after today, Friday 3rd February.

The Pickerings said "Regrettably we've been left with no choice but to restructure The Yard as you know it and move on to the next chapter.

"The rent of the premises is very high and with all the other overheads considered unfortunately we can no longer operate in the way that we currently are."

The family will continue to operate the back space of the South Street premises exclusively for events and private functions including parties, meetings, pop up shops, photoshoots and private dinners or lunches. They will also be running a number of events including live music, comedy nights, supper clubs, talks and workshops.

The Pickering family added "We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person that's walked through our door over the years for your custom and support, and hope that you'll continue to support us moving forward and help us to maintain a place for the community to gather, create and celebrate."

What a pity....The Yard has made a major contribution to Alderley Edge and has provided an inspirational alternative to the customary bars and restaurants on the Strip. Many thanks to the Pickering family for their great initiative and with every hope that they will succeed in their restructured business which deserves great support.
