The A34 is currently closed in both directions from Monks Heath to Congleton due to a one vehicle collision.
A fully loaded HGV has come off the carriageway and gone into a ditch near Capesthorne Hall.
The incident was reported at 10am and police officers are currently awaiting recovery of the vehicle.
The road is expected to reopen by 3.30pm, in the meantime drivers are requested to avoid the area.
