"House of W" opened on Saturday in the building previously occupied by Envio. The Couture Salon and Day Retreat which is managed by Hale-born Michelle Vickerman intends to take pampering to a whole new level.
Featuring a Training Academy aimed at producing some of the country’s top young hairstylists, and a dedicated recruitment team who scour the country for new talent the salon also provides an exclusive range of products and experiences in hair and beauty, many of which have previously been unavailable in the UK.
Michelle combines excellent local knowledge with huge enthusiasm for building the business, "The building alone holds so much potential for an amazing setting in which to establish a salon, not to mention a terrific location in the heart of Alderley Edge, and I'm determined to make the most of this in creating something really special and different" she enthuses.
Unique treatments and products aside, one of Michelle's chief considerations in setting up the salon was to form her decisions with both clientele and representatives in mind; "A business is only as strong as its client base and its staff; I want to offer our guests a retreat in which they can be assured of expert attention and first-class treatment, and at the same time to create an environment that is relaxed and enjoyable, so that the staff will enjoy being in the salon almost as much as their guests do!"
Michelle has sourced a team of exceptional calibre, The House of W hair team is headed up by Couture Director Jade Tinker who was recently selected to style for the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Jade also beat off stiff competition to work beside A-List Hairstylist Stuart Phillips (famed for his record-breaking £20,000 price-tag haircut) in styling for the BAFTAS, as well as the cast of television shows such as Coronation Street and photo-shoots for brands such as Vodafone and Manchester United FC.
Reinforcing the House of W’s quest for the crème de la crème of hair and beauty personnel, Jade is joined by House Director and Hair Extension specialist Hayley Jennings. Hayley has gained one of only 12 coveted places on the Racoon Artistic Team, the UK’s top hair extension supplier, whose high-profile assignments include styling for TV shows including Coleen’s Real Women, How to Look Good Naked, Dancing on Ice and Ten Years Younger.
House of W’s official launch will be on January 22nd 2010 when they will play host to Stateside Celebrity Hairstylist Rodney Cutler, founder-owner of Cutler Salons New York and Miami and Resident Grooming Expert for GQ and Esquire Magazines. As an advisor to the House of W board and company affiliate, Cutler will be mentoring House of W's resident stylists in preparation for New York Fashion Week in 2010.
