Councillor Craig Browne provided an update at the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 14th November, regarding a number of projects scheduled to be carried out in Alderley Edge over the coming months.

Below is the list of works planned to improve road safety, parking and assessibility as well as the general appearance of the village.

As previously reported on alderleyedge.com, the top section of Trafford Road will be closed on Wednesday, 30th November, to enable Cheshire East Highways to paint lines on a section of the road to prohibit parking on the left hand side, as you head down from Macclesfield Road, and on the right hand side where there is a blind bend.

He also explained that the dead tree located outside Beauty Works was removed at the weekend, explaining "I have asked about getting a replacement, but this is something that we might need to consider funding as a Parish Council."

The gully emptying programme for Alderley Edge which should have been carried out at the end of October has been delayed, it is now due to start on Monday, 28th November and be carried out over a five-day period.

Meanwhile the 15 additional parking spaces on South Street, West Street, Stevens Street and London Road, outside Gusto, should be in place before the end of December.

Whilst the consultation process for the proposed one-way systems on George Street, South Street and West Street will begin in January and should be implemented by the end of June next year.

However, Cllr Browne explained "Due to the way the S106 agreement is structured, this work has to be complete before formal consultation on widening the footpath on Chorley Hall Lane can begin.

Additionally dropped kerbs should be introduced at various locations in the village centre to make it more accessible, starting with Clifton Street, Stevens Street, West Street and South Street before Christmas.

Councillor Browne's next Community Surgery is being held on Saturday 26th November at 10am in Aldeli where he will joined by our PCSO, Sarah Stanley should residents wish to discuss any local issues with them.
