Car park to close for resurfacing

The car park at Ryleys Lane will be closed for 5 days to enable Cheshire East Council to resurface it and mark out the spaces.

The temporary closure will take place during the week of half term, from Monday 24th October to Friday 28th October.

Councillor Craig Browne confirmed "No parking will be allowed whilst the work is being carried out. Notices advertising the temporary closure will be in place later this week."

Just by way of an update, I have managed to establish that the work is being carried out at a cost of £20,000. This cost is being incurred entirely by Cheshire East Council (Parking).

This work should be done the week after when school is closed for half term. Craig Browne you need to look into this other wise it will cause parking mayhem.

Dear Jackie,

I do appreciate the point you are making, but this work was scheduled several months ago and in line with the CEC recommended half-term holiday, which is 24th - 28th October (http://bit.ly/2e8ipHz).

Even if it were possible to reschedule the work, I notice that both the Ryleys School and Alderley Edge School for Girls will be closed 24th - 28th October, so I'm afraid a certain level of disruption would occur whichever week was chosen to carry out the work.

On behalf of CE Parking, I would like to apologise for any disruption that is caused to children, parents, staff and residents, but hope that they would all agree that the work is necessary and that it will help to improve child safety, once completed.

Kind regards,
Craig

Some of the marked bays should be allocated to short term parking to allow families from outlying areas to visit the park play area with their children. Currently it is blocked all day with people travelling to Manchester for work.
