Over the next few weeks preparation works to the railway signal and telecoms cables will be undertaken and the new rail bridge will be delivered to the site and fabricated within the compound using a 1000 tonne crane. This is due to be completed by early December.
The main installation works will be take place between 11pm on 23rd December and 5am on 28th December. During this time works will take place 24 hours per day with the structure being driven in to place during the morning of the 26th December.
A spokesman from Network Rail confirmed “ It is expected these activities will produce some noise and disruption. Efforts will be made to minimise the noise as much as possible and will not be as disruptive as the piling works carried out over Christmas 2008.”
Sarah McArdie, Community Relations Manager, from Network Rail, added “I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that our works may cause you but we are sure you can appreciate the long-term benefits that the work will bring to the travelling public in terms of a more reliable and improved road and rail network.”
If you have any queries in respect to the work, Network Rail can be contacted via their 24 hour national helpline on 08457 114 141.
