The Alderley Edge Village Show, formally known as the Annual show, has been a part of the village calendar for the past 75 years.
Organised by the Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, the Village Show will take place at the Festival Hall on Saturday 20th August.
The competitive show aims to promote and encourage interest in horticulture and crafts for all ages. It is open to everyone, offering the chance for local people to enter their flowers, vegetables, fruit, cakes, photographs or works of art.
There are also six newcomers classes for those who have not exhibited at the show before and youngsters are also encouraged to get involved. There are eight children's and young adults classes including an 'animal' made from a vegetable or fruit, flower arrangement, tallest sunflower and a painting or drawing.
Both adults and children can also compete in the Village Competition which includes best scarecrow, a miniature garden in a tray and the best shed.
New trophies for 2016 include: The Presidents Trophy - awarded to any entry in the show that the presidents feels a special award; The Chairman Cup - for the heaviest pumpkin, The Bread Makers Cup and the Victoria Sponge Cake Cup - for the winner of class 81, Victoria sponge jam filled and no icing.
Fenton Simpson, Chairman of Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, said "We are hoping to get more people to enter from the village and surrounding areas as the village show is not just about the allotment people.
"We also want to see more children's entries, the brownies and primary school have visited the allotments and have taken show programmes away so I hope we see more entries from this age group."
Fenton added "Some people are put off entering because its seen a competion, but it's more about highlighting what the village can do and now we have festival hall back we hope to continue to hold the show at the hall and support its constant use for the future. With the new windows in the hall we are hoping the nartural light will really show off flowers this year.
"So even if you havent placed and entry in the show please come down to festival hall and have a look around."
More details are available in the show programme, together with the entry form. The programme can be downloaded here and copies are also available in Alderley Edge library and other shops and businesses in the village.
Refreshments, including a selection of homemade cakes, will be served during the show and there will be the opportunity to win prizes donated by local businesses in the raffle.
