Author of teenage books visits AESG

library

We recently welcomed Chris Higgins, author of very popular stories based on real life, into Alderley Edge School for Girls.

As a mother of four girls, Chris knows what makes teenage girls tick and is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about what young people like to read - and passionate about encouraging them to do so! She has written several books including “A Perfect Ten” and “36c That’s Me”.

Chris commenced her visit by talking to Year 7 and 8 girls about her books, introduced her characters to the girls and talked about her writing. There was also an opportunity for the girls to ask questions. She then focused on her latest book, “Would You Rather?” and got all the girls playing a game featured in the book, with interesting results and signed copies of the book for prizes.

At lunchtime, Chris was guest at a Literary Lunch held in the Library. This was attended by around 20 girls from Year 8 upwards who love creative writing along with staff from the English Department. It was a lovely relaxed session with the girls really grilling Chris about the writing process and chatting to Anna from Hodder publishers about how to get published.

Mrs Wood, Senior School Librarian said, “It’s always a special treat for the girls to meet an author of books they have enjoyed. It really brings the books to life and inspires budding authors. I would like to thank Sue Steel from Simply Books for facilitating the event and providing copies of the books to purchase”.

You can find out more about Chris Higgins and her books on her website.
