New home needed for Christmas tree

IMG_0643

It looks as though Alderley Edge Parish Council will need to find a new home for the Christmas tree which has been located at The Parade for years.

It was reported at the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 14th December, that when Waitrose took over management of the car park earlier this year they used the electricity supply to plug into their parking meters and then concreted over the power supply so there is no access to it.

Councillor Rachael Grantham agreed to discuss the issue with Waitrose in the new year and the Parish Council will explore possible alternative locations for next Christmas.

If you have any ideas then please use the comment box below to share your suggested locations.

Outside RBS might work? It could go by the wall bordering the RBS car park? That way there would be sufficient space and it wouldn't impare drivers' view of oncoming traffic when turning onto London Rd from Heyes Ln?

How about the triangle at the junction of Macclesfield Road / Chapel Road / London Road?

One point I would make about the "Council Christmas Trees" they are wonderful and well lit with coloured lights, but the horrible orange plastic "safety" fencing around the ones at Wood Gardens and Rileys Lane completely ruin the appearance.
