Alderley Edge Parish Council has been granted permission to build an extension to the Festival Hall.

The single storey steel framed extension will enable them to create an additional meeting room. The room will located next to the entrance to the Festival Hall, with a convenient link to the bar. The plan is for it to be available for hire by individuals, organisations and community groups.

Speaking about the application in October, Councillor Geoff Hall, Chairman of Alderley Edge Parish Council ""We want to build it if at all possible, as it would not only provide a useful additional community resource, but also complete that side of the building.

"The main issue we are dealing with at the moment is how to fund the Members Lounge and we hope to be able to report more on our progress with that at the November Parish Council meeting.

"We have made the planning application now so that, assuming we can secure the necessary funding, then we can go ahead with the build without further delay."

Alderley Edge Parish Council are meeting at 7.30pm this evening (Monday 14th December) and there is an item on the agenda "To agree an increase in expenditure on the Festival Hall up to £840,000, which will accommodate phase 2 of the refurbishment plans".

A second planning application for changes to the rear and side elevations and the internal refurbishment of the hall has also been approved.

The plans can be on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning references 15/4296M and 15/4448M.
