Congleton Road is closed today and tomorrow (Wednesday 19th August) for surface dressing.
The work is scheduled to take place between 8am and 6pm on both days.
Through traffic is being diverted onto the A34 Alderley Edge bypass, although a traffic management system is in place to allow residents and businesses access to Congleton Road and the adjacent streets.
There will be a further closure of Congleton Road on Sunday 23rd August to allow lining works to take place.
In addition to surface dressing, the double yellow lines going up Congleton Road will be reinstated along with solid white lines in the centre of the road. Additionally 'SLOW' signs will be put in place as drivers approach Hazelcroft Gardens and Congleton Close.
Speaking about the introduction of 'SLOW' signs, Councillor Craig Browne said "As recent evidence has shown, speeding vehicles are a problem on this stretch of road, as they are in other parts of the village.
"I am pleased that CE Highways have responded so quickly and positively to my request for action, following residents concerns about this stretch of road."

Is this another case of a CEC Half-a-job???
Nether Alderley is part of the Chelford Ward. As the Alderley Edge Ward Member, I was only able to ask for work to be carried out up to the ward boundary, which is Whitebarn Road.
