Police have been receiving reports of bogus callers operating in the area and potentially targeting the elderly and vulnerable.
Sgt Andy Miller explained "The suspects will often appear plausible in an attempt to gain trust from their victims. They will possibly inform victims that roof work, building work or garden maintenance work is urgently required and offer an initial low price.
"They will then do very little work and demand extremely large sums of cash for the work they originally quoted a low price for. They will be forceful and sometimes aggressive in their tone if this is refused.
"Please make sure you are only accepting work from pre-arranged appointments by known and legitimate contractors. If in doubt DON'T answer the door DO contact Cheshire Police."
