Thieves struck at Alderley Edge Methodist Church last week, taking money which had been collected for concert tickets.
A man in his late teens entered the church at about 3.15pm on Wednesday, 19th November, after the Lunchtime Concert had finished. He asked attendees for money to pay for a lost train ticket back to Chester and after being told there was nobody able to help him he left.
It was later discovered that a pile of papers had been disturbed and £40 to £50 had been taken from underneath. This money had been given to the church for tickets to the Vox Musica concert which will be taking place on Sunday 7th December, as part of the Christmas Tree Festival.
Prior to the concert another man entered the church and was walking around until challenged.
The first man is described as white, about 5" 10 tall, of slim build and in his late teens. He was wearing dark trousers and a dark zipped jacket with red strips on each side of the zip and a red logo on the left chest. He is pictured wearing glasses on the CCTV footage but when he came into the church he did not have glasses on.
The second man is described as white, of a similar height and stature, wearing a cap, dark clothing and carrying a red drawstring "CEX" bag.
The police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed these two males and on that particular day to contact them on 101 quoting incident number CC14343811. Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
