Plans for private fishing club

Planning permission is being sought to create a private trout fishery at Brookfield Farm.

Alderley Edge Trees and Shrubs has applied to enlarge an existing pond on land off Brook Lane for use as a commercial fishing club.

It is proposed that the current car park, which Birse repositioned and resurfaced when building the nearby bypass, is enlarged to provide eight additional spaces for the use of members of the fishing club. It is also proposed that a further four larger spaces are provided in a separate car park at the bottom of the hill to for disabled users.

The scheme also includes grass paths, an orchard and additional tress to provide screening from the bypass.

It is intended that membership of the club is limited to 100 people and the area will be maintained by a part-time groundsman.

The soil which is extracted will be spread over adjoining fields, thereby raising the level by one to two metres and improving their value for grazing sheep and other livestock.

The planning application can be viewed of the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/1129M.

The last date for submitting comments is December 10th and a decision is expected by December 26th.
