Over the last two weeks of July Wilmslow Neighbourhood Police have been running Operation MOSUL which has targeted those involved in shoplifting in the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge area.
Officers have been, and will continue to be, on patrol in plain clothes in areas where there have been significant issues with thefts and the use of counterfeit currency.
This approach resulted in three arrests in Wilmslow in two days last week with all three offenders remanded in custody. Additionally, two males were arrested for passing fake £20 notes at various locations in Wilmslow. They have been charged and bailed to appear in court.
Sgt Miller who led the operation said "It has been rewarding to see how well this operation has gone down with the businesses in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow and the results we have had. This has been as much about crime prevention as detection and we have been able to give some advice and guidance to businesses suffering from multiple thefts which will assist with crime prevention and the detection of offences in the future."
