School term ends with a 'Wow Week'

On Wednesday of last week the girls in the Sixth Form at Alderley Edge School for Girls took part in some slightly different activities; instead of the usual lessons, Mrs Cheetham, the Head of Sixth Form, wanted to create a day "that all of the girls will remember for years to come."

The activities began with some folk dancing and cheerleading. It was definitely a different approach to starting a school day, but it managed to ensure that all of the girls were wide awake by 10am and ready to take on the rest of the challenges!

The most enjoyable part of the day was the orienteering course; the school took the activities not only out of the classroom but out of the school itself. The girls were left on the Edge with nothing but a map and a compass, and were challenged to find their way back to The Wizard Tearooms!

Felicity Coen, Deputy Head Girl, stated that "following the end of exams, it was great for the whole year to be rewarded for all of our hard work, by getting together in a place that wasn't a classroom."

Complete with ice-cream and muddy shoes, the day was a huge success, the school created activities where the girls could work together and have fun, taking a break from the stresses of life in the Sixth Form.
