Alderley Edge Cricket Club has applied to Cheshire East Council to vary their premises licence.

They have put in an application for a licence for live and recorded music to be played from 11am until 11pm Monday to Thursday, 11am until 1am Friday and Saturday and 12noon until 10.30pm on Sunday. In addition the club has applied to include the cricket ground as part of the licensed premises.

The Club's current licence is for the sale of alcohol but not for music and dancing, so when they currently hold functions beyond 11pm they need to notify the Council and obtain a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). They are limited to 12 TENs covering 21 days in any one year and an event which runs past midnight counts for 2 days.

Paul Carr, Honour Secretary, wrote to residents who live nearby explaining "In order to reduce the administration associated with TENs we are applying to Cheshire East for music and dancing to be incorporated into our Club Premises Certiifcate in line with our current licensing hours i.e. until 12.30am on Friday and Saturday (the only days on which our alcohol license extends beyond 11pm).

"Please be assured we are not applying to increase our overall licensing hours, nor to significantly increase the number of functions we hold.

"I can also assure you that there is no agenda to change our status. We will remain a members club."

Full details of the application may be inspected by contacting The Licensing Section, Cheshire East Borough Council, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, SK10 1DS during the Council's usual opening hours or at Cheshire East Council.

Representations should be made in writing to the Licensing Authority at the above address no later than 23 April 2014.
