Standing room only for infant nativity

This year the infant children at Alderley Edge Community Primary School told the story of the first Christmas through a play called the Prickly Hay.

The play followed the story of a hardworking young stable boy and his ever faithful friend Shrew, who witnessed the comings and goings in the stable where baby Jesus was born.

The play was performed twice for parents, grandparents and other relatives in the school hall and on both occasions the hall was full with standing room only.

A collection was taken with all funds from this concert and other Christmas events in and out of school going to Francis House Children's Hospice.

Head teacher Mr Perry said 'It was an absolutely fantastic play. The children performed brilliantly and clearly enjoyed singing the songs. The main characters had so many lines to learn and did an amazing job when you consider how young they are. The whole production really brought home the real meaning of Christmas. I was very proud of all the children."
