A landmark building in the village centre is to undergo a makeover.

Barclays Bank at 22 London Road, which is a listed Grade II building, has been granted permission to carry out external remedial works to the stonework, windows, timber doors and drain pipes as well as the gates to the car park. Additionally the existing asbestos flue situated at the rear of the property is to be removed and replaced with a new one.

The proposal also includes upgrading external signage, to bring the Barclays brand up to date, installing a new hanging sign and a new vandal resistant dome CCTV camera on the external wall by the ATM.

Additionally the company will clean and de-weed around the perimeter of the building and repair the pavement in front of ATM.

Documentation submitted with the plans states "The exterior of the building will be cleaned and maintained where necessary to ensure the existing character of the building is enhanced as part of the refurbishment. All decoration works will be to match the existing colour therefore not changing the overall appearance of the building."

The planning application can be viewed of the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/1293M
