New postbox has arrived

A new postbox has been installed in the village, adjacent to the public toilet at South Street car park.

Following the relocation of Alderley Edge Post Office to West Street last month, the postbox was removed from outside the former Post Office on London Road at the request of the property owner.

A new postbox could not be installed at the time, as planning permission needed to be obtained.

The last collection from the new postbox will be 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 12 noon on Saturdays.

Good news. Credit to those who have moved so quickly to get the new postbox installed, especially after the criticism over the premature removal of the original postbox. By the way, although the location of the new Post Office is perhaps not ideal, the quality and appearance of the premises are a great improvement on the original site.

Anyone know what happened to poor old Mr Postbox who was so cruely knocked down. Where is he now?
