Parking issues in Alderley Edge village have become so problematic, that the police have began a parking operation at key times on Friday and Saturday nights focussing upon; bus stop parking, pavement parking, parking on junctions and zig zag lines.

The police and the Parish Council recently met to discuss the best way forward towards combatting the parking offences.

This has resulted in an evening operation which commenced on Friday 1st March, this has been received positively by the community. There has been some very good consultation with taxi drivers and local businesses, educating them and taking on board their opinions.

Many of the taxi drivers have expressed their need for a permanent taxi rank located in the village. In due course the police and Parish Council are liasing with the local businesses and taxi drivers with the intention of collectively alleviating the issues.

Proper consultation, hopefully, will result the best outcome for all parties.

Permanent taxi rank should only be operational at night time. Don't want parking spaces wasted during the day.

Maybe parking problems could be alleviated at the weekend by allowing parking in the station car park for a reasonable rate? At the moment it costs £3 for a ticket and it remains mainly empty at weekends. Would this not help trade in the shops and show good will towards visitors to the town at weekends?

Could we have a similar day time initiative to cover Heyes Lane and other parking blackspots ...
How about a twitter account or text number that illegally parked cars can be "sent" to ; similar to the way abuse is reported to stewards at football grounds
