Parish councillors have raised concerns about a planning application to replace a single detached house with seven properties.
PH Property Holdings has applied to demolish Greenlands, a 1930s two storey detached house on Chorley Hall Lane, and replace it with six semi-detached properties and one six-bedroom detached house. Each property will have a garage and private garden.
Everything will be set within the curtilage of the existing 0.39ha site, which is adjacent to the railway line, and a new single access point will be created at the western end of the site.
As the result of a pre-submission consultation, the number of dwellings has been reduced from eight to seven, the height of the dwellings has been reduced and the distance between them has been increased.
Alderley Edge Parish Council has recommended refusal of the application on the grounds that it is unneighbourly, the density of the site is inconsistent with the surrounding area which is detached properties, access is not suitable for multiple occupation, it is a small cul-de-sac and requires a double width internal access and the area is subject to occasional flooding.
Cllr Melanie Connor commented "The whole feel of the village is being eroded by developers who seem not to realise why people buy houses here."
The application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0404M.
The deadline for submitting comments is March 6th and a decision is expected by 2nd April.
