Two cars were involved in a collision outside the De Trafford Arms this afternoon.
The driver of a Ford KA pulled out of the De Trafford Arms car park and crashed into a VW Golf which was travelling down Congleton Road.
Special Constable Mark Slinger who attended the incident explained that the female driver of the KA had not seen the Golf coming down the hill as her line of sight was blocked by the cars parked up Congleton Road.
Nobody was hurt in the accident and the recovery vehicle arrived as I was speaking to the Special Constable to take both cars away.
Vehicles started parking further up the hill on Congleton Road in October, after Cheshire East Council installed double yellow lines from the junction with Chorley Hall Lane to the entrance to the De Trafford Arms car park to stop people parking outside the De Trafford Arms.
It is illegal to park on the stretch of Congleton Road where there are double white lines in the centre to indicate visibility is poor as you approach the brow of the hill.
Although there is room for one or two cars to park legally immediately after the entrance to the car park, even though parking there reduces visibility for cars exiting the car park, because the double white lines do not start until a bit further up.
