Plans to demolish an unused building in the village centre and replace it with a new office block have been approved.

Planning permission has been granted to demolish a building at the rear of No's 14-18 London Road and replace it with a two and a half storey office block.

Plans also include building a two storey rear extension to a nearby a semi-detached property. The extension at No 6 West Street, which has been converted to a dental practice, will accommodate a kitchen on the ground floor and a bedroom above.

Plans for a three storey office block at this site were refused in July 2011 (reference 11/1310M) on the grounds that it would be visually dominant when viewed from No 6 West Street and overbearing. An appeal against this decision was dismissed.

Since then the applicant has acquired No 6 West Street so the approved application covers both properties.

The hours of construction will be restricted to between 8am and 6pm on Monday to Friday and from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays, with no work at any other time including Sundays and Public Holidays. Additionally work to construct the office building shall not commence before works to construct the extension to 6 West Street are substantially completed.

This planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for reference 12/4201M.
