Alderley home to six registered sex offenders

According to a report in The Sun newspaper there are six registered sex offenders living in Alderley Edge.

On Saturday, 29th December, The Sun published the results of an eight month investigation into where every paedophile and rapist in England and Wales lives.

They obtained the figures, which showed there are 41,036 known sex offenders living in England and Wales, after "fighting a lengthy Freedom of Information battle with all 43 police forces of England and Wales".

Can somebody explain why the Sun newspaper needs to highlight Alderley Edge?

Because like the article states its where the likes of Wayne Rooney have lavish homes. That sort of rubbish only matters to naff newspapers who like to use such pointless facts in their articles. Anyway am I wrong in thinking Wayne Rooney's lavish home (!) is in Prestbury? I am surprised they did not use Helen Flannagan (ex Corrie actress) as an example of an Alderley Edge resident. They like to take pictures of her in a sweet shop or getting in or out of a car so why not an article about sex offenders.

It's not the six registered you need to worry about, it's those that are not on any list yet.

I wish it was like it was in the old days in villages i grew up in, everyone knew everybody and those odd people or sex pests were known to all.....

But Lesley has the recent abuse scandal re Jimmy Saville and friends not proved the old days in some respects were not the best. When I was a teen my friends and I knew a few odd people who I am sure we made seem more odd by the daft stories that went round (dead bodies in wardrobes) As has been proven it's not the well known odd bods we should be watchful of but those that are under the radar or have escaped any form of justice ( I know of 2) or those that portray that ever so friendly personality to all. A recent local case springs to mind straight away.

I don't see the point in publishing how many sex offenders live in an area, all that will do is cause huge amounts of second guessing and finger pointing and then in most cases people are wrong and the real offenders keep their head down and wait for the storm to blow over and people forget again.

ok maybe i am going back to the 50's and small villages where people knew each other....the j savile scandals are celebrity scandals, they had access all areas in the jobs they do, slightly different to village life in a rural community, maybe i didn't make it clear....the majority of offenders are family members anyway allegedly
