Alderley pays tribute on Remembrance Sunday

Those who fought and sacrificed their lives while serving their country were honoured at the Alderley Edge Remembrance Day Parade and Service this afternoon.

Led by the Bollington Air Cadets Band, the parade departed from the Festival Hall and marched along Moss Lane, Trafford Road and Chapel Road before proceeding down London Road to the War Memorial where prayers and the wreath laying ceremony were held.

There was a strong turnout for this year's parade which included members of the British Legion, RAF, Alderley Edge Parish Council, Cheshire Police, WRVS, Red Cross and local churches were joined by scouts, cubs, beavers, guides and brownies.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire Christine Gaskell, took part in the parade and wreath laying ceremony this year, representing David Briggs, the Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire.

The Service of Remembrance followed at St. Philip and St. James church which was led by Rev Jane Parry.
