Hockey: Another weekend of mixed results

The third team maintained their 100% start against Triton. Starting well and dominating throughout they raced to 3-0 at half time with goals from Rob Marks, Ed Johnson and a solo effort from Richard Williams.

The second half continued in the same vein with the Triton 'keeper making several good saves. Williams put the final flourish on the performance finishing at the far post following a flowing passing move down the right wing.

The 2s drew 2-2 in a top of the table clash with Liverpool University. It was the students who took the lead, but Alderley fought back and took the lead as Chris hardy and Oli Wildig both scored from penalty corner routines.

Alderley had chances to further extend their lead but failed to capitalise and then conceded an equaliser with 5 minutes to go after a strong run into the Alderley D resulted in a chance at the far post which was well taken. Alderley finished the stronger but were unable to force a winner.

The 4s had to travel to Denbigh and lost for the first time this season as Denbigh went top of the table after winning by 4 goals to 2. The 5s drew 5-5 in a thriller against Triton 3rd team and in the same league the 6th team drew 4-4 in another epic away at South Manchester.

The first team had their North Premier League game away at Durham University called off due to the pitch conditions, strangely all the other games at that venue went ahead.
