Dog fouling in park 'will not be tolerated'

Cheshire East Community Warden Keith Davies, PCSO Jim Newns and Local Engagement Officer Clair Edward Steele have spent time tackling dog fouling problems in Alderley Edge Park, notifying persons responsible by marking the ground with a "CLEAN IT UP" message which has an outline of a dog dropping its mess.

Keith Davies said "Dog fouling is unpleasant, anti social and harmful, especially in a park area where there are families with young children present. Anyone caught allowing their dog to foul and not clearing away the mess responsibly will be fined."

PCSO Jim Newns commented "Alderley Edge Park is a pleasant space for families and dog walkers to exercise and enjoy. Please do not spoil it by leaving your dogs mess. This will not be tolerated."

If anyone witnesses a dog fouling in Alderley Edge please pass on details to PCSO Newns on 07948522130.

Bravo Mr Davies, Newns and Ms Steele, I had to double check it wasn't April 1st. Surely the irony of attempting to discourage one form of anti-social behaviour through the use of another isn't lost on you?

I assumed the new graffiti was the result of disgruntled resident taking the law into their own hands. It transpires it's the work of two men in "uniform" and an engagement officer. Massive fail.

For the benefit of residents, please address the fouling around Wood Gardens, it's worse than the park, outside the houses of children etc.

I am disappointed to read that Alderley are suffering as much as we in Mottram are. It is disgusting for owners to leave their dog’s poo on our streets and parks. Just recently our Parish Council Chairman raised the issue as it seems to be getting worse! How hard is it to carry poo bags with you when walking your dog and just clear the mess rather than leave it in the middle of foot paths for others to have to deal with. I really hope anyone reading this who allows their dogs to foul without picking up gets a conscience and takes their bags with them from now on.

Sometimes irresponsible owners can be hard to catch, as they frequently walk their dogs very early in the morning and after dusk at night, in order to avoid detection. Another ploy is to walk several yards ahead of the animal in order to give the impression of being unaware of the dog's anti-social behaviour.
For obvious reasons, owners of smaller dogs tend to be more inclined to clean up after their pets.
