Tennis: Junior success at county tournament

It was yet another successful day at Alderley Edge Cricket Club on Sunday, 20th May, when the North East junior county tournament came to Alderley Edge tennis club.

Budding tennis stars came from many different clubs to produce record entry of which 32 were home grown talent.

Ages ranged from under 12's to under 18's with the standard of play very high.

Such is the potential at Alderley Edge at present, 11 of the 18 finalists were from Alderley Edge.

Alderley Edge's junior section is looking forward to winning more trophies this year and are building a bright future for the club.

U-18 Boys Singles: Winner - Faris McGrath (David Lloyd), runner-up - Will Banks (Sport City Manchester)

U-15 Girls Doubles: Winners - Emily Preston & Kate Watson (Northern / AECC). runners-up - Ciara Berraghan & Victoria Mowat (AECC)

U-15 Boys Doubles: Winners - Adam Taylor & James Phillips (Prestbury), runners-up - Greg Johnson & Jack Ronnie (AECC)

U-12 Girls Doubles: Winners - Emma Gledhill & Imogen Hartley (Brabyns), runners-up - Francesca McKean & Charlotte Thackery (AECC)

U-12 Boys Doubles: Winners - Luke Farquharson & Charlie Ruddock (AECC), runners-up - Gus Lloyd & Max Ridings (AECC).
