Future of Brownie pack under threat

A Brownie pack in Alderley Edge needs new leaders if it's to continue into the autumn term.

The current Brownie Guider at 4th Alderley Brownies is leaving due to work commitments, and her assistant is moving away from Cheshire.

That leaves fifteen Brownies facing an uncertain future, and the survival of the pack, which is nearly 50 years old, is in doubt.

Liz Horrocks, who formerly ran the unit, said: "Guiding offers adults of all ages a fun and rewarding activity - and it also benefits young people in the local community. For young adults in particular, gaining the Guiding Leadership qualification is a respected addition to their CV, as it demonstrates leadership qualities that many employers today would gladly welcome.

"In Alderley Edge, we have the benefit of a district team that can offer valuable support and experience to anyone considering becoming a Brownie Leader. We meet socially as well as on Guiding matters, and it opens up a new network of friends and contacts."

The pack meets in the Parish rooms alongside St Phillip and St James Church, every Wednesday evening during term time. If anybody is interested in finding out more, please contact Alderley Edge District Guiding Team member Judy Povey on 01625 583199.
