An Alderley Edge art gallery was completely packed for the launch of their latest exhibition last night.

Bebb & Sekers are hosting an exhibition of Iola Spafford's work, which was officially opened by television presenter Davina McCall on Monday, 23rd April.

This is the first exhibition of the Wilmslow artist's work for over a decade.

Born in 1930, Iola was a student at the famous Slade School of Art from 1950 to 1954. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy in London and has had eight solo exhibitions at the Tib Lane Gallery in Manchester.

Iola said "I was delighted that so many people came along to the opening. It was a lovely evening and I enjoyed seeing my work on display. It has been a long time and Lucy has done a wonderful job hanging the exhibition."

Lucy Sekers and Roger Bebb are delighted to bring Iola's work back into the public eye.

Speaking after the private viewing Lucy said "A huge thank you to everyone who came to support Iola and the gallery last night, but special thanks must go to Davina McCall for her generosity and charm. We had a fantastic turnout, and people were queuing up to buy Iola's pictures - in fact, many will be coming back so they can see the work properly.

"With such high demand locally and interest from a London gallery, Iola's show looks like being a sell-out."

Bebb and Sekers are donating 10% of profits from last night's sales, raising over £330 for Davina's charity Action Medical Research, a UK-wide medical research charity which finds and funds medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability.

Iola's work will remain on show at Bebb & Sekers until Tuesday May 8th.
