The Wedding Shop in Alderley Edge is looking forward to its own 'Big Day' when it goes head to head against the best bridal retailers in the country to clinch a top award.
The shop, run by Maggie Chadwick and her daughter Lucy Ball, is among just 12 shops in the whole of England to be shortlisted. They now join the 'best of the best' at a glittering Oscar style awards ceremony to be held in Harrogate later this month when the winners will be announced to an audience of more than 900 from the bridal retail trade.
The Alderley Edge shop on London Road, which was set up 18 years ago by Maggie, was nominated because of the range and diversity of dresses in stock.
Maggie said "It's a great accolade to be a finalist. We were short listed because we have a fantastic selection of different styles and designers, one the biggest ranges in the country, and we cater for all different budgets and sizes.
"We like to think we have the perfect dress for all types of bride; from contemporary chic to vintage styling to the most fairytale would-be princess gowns - with everything in between!"
Among the labels are gowns by top designer Enzoani, French designers including Cymbeline, ball gowns by Hollywood Dreams, classic designs by Alan Hannah andfigure hugging dresses by Joanna Hehir.
Maggie said the budget range is also second to none and brides can have a bespoke dress designed and styled by Maggie and Lucy.
Lucy said: "We try to have something for everyone's taste, it's been key to our success and makes every day different."
Awards spokesman Ava Hamilton said the 2012 awards were the biggest and best ever. She added: "Being in the final line up is a huge achievement- the standard this year was tremendous and the number of entries overwhelming."
