Chess Top 100

Alderley Edge based Chess, one of the largest employees in the village and one of the UK's leading providers of business voice and data solutions, has been listed as one of the top 100 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For in the UK.

Chess has been recognized within the Sunday Times Best Companies list since 2006 and has this year been awarded a '3 star status', the Sunday Times highest award.

David Pollock, Chief Executive, commented, "I'm thrilled that once again we are the only telecoms company to be recognised in the Sunday Times Top 100. It's our people that make Chess such a great place to work and it's their passion and support that also makes us a great place to be a customer."

Best Companies is based on employee feedback recognising businesses which excel at workplace engagement. Chess had to provide evidence of different workplace initiatives including corporate social responsibility, environmental practices, benefits packages and training and development programmes as part of the award entry.

As well as traditional benefits of health and pension plans, a share-option scheme and flexible working, Chess wowed judges with more unusual benefits such as massages, a breakfast club, flu jabs, health champions, a vibrant social calendar, sponsorships for qualifications, a green team and holiday prize draws.

Andrew Green, Head of Performance at Chess stated, "It's the growth and success of our people that underpins the growth and success of our business. We make sure everyone at Chess has the opportunity to progress their career, to develop knowledge and skill, to gain reward and recognition and to achieve job satisfaction. Happy people make happy customers, and being voted as ones of the UK's best companies to work for means there's never been a better time to switch to Chess!"
