An Alderley Edge retailer is organising an Easter Egg Hunt in the village, designed to be a fun event for families and to encourage people to walk around the village visiting shops that they have perhaps not been in before.

The hunt organised by Mr Simms Sweet Shoppe will start on Saturday March 24th and continue until Easter Saturday, April 7th.

Participating businesses will be provided with a little painted hen's egg to display in their window to show they are involved in the hunt. The eggs are being painted by children at The Ryleys during their art class.

In addition, the participants will need to display another egg somewhere inside the shop, which will have a letter on it, each business will be told what their letter is by Friday March 16th. This will be an opportunity for local businesses to reflect their identity and design their own egg - for instance it could be one dimensional from card or 3D from polystyrene or fabric.

The main aim of the event is to encourage families and children to enter shop premises, gathering the letters from all the eggs, which when arranged correctly will spell a message or phrase.

Completed entry forms will then be returned to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in return for a little egg treat. A draw of the correct entries will take place on Saturday April 7th when one lucky person will win an Easter egg donated by the shop.

Judy O'Brien said "Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe and staff are organising the event to provide a fun, traditional activity for local children that they can enjoy with their friends and family. Local residents will have the chance to browse in shops that they may not have ever thought of going into before!

Local businesses will benefit from additional publicity for the village as well as increased footfall. They will have the opportunity to engage in conversation, welcome and form new relationships with potential new customers. They may wish to provide a voucher for instance to encourage the families to return to their shop or business."

Participating businesses may also wish to donate a gift voucher, item from stock or cash to increase the range of prizes, which may incentivise more people to enter. The Alderley Edge Easter Egg Hunt is free to enter although in order to raise money for the NSPCC, one of Mr Simms chosen charities, participating businesses are invited to give a small donation.

If your business would like to be part of the Alderley Edge Easter Egg Hunt complete the attached entry form and either drop a hard copy off for Judy at Mr Simms or email it to Judy O'Brien by March 10th.
