Five local businesses are joining forces to host a special Valentine's evening in aid of the NSPCC.

Lucy Sekers of Bebb & Sekers Fine Art will be hosting the event where a selection of Valentine's Day treats will be on offer.

Judy O'Brien, of Mr Simms. said "The initial idea came about because one of Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe's key objectives is to be part of the community which includes support for children's charities whenever we can. I have regular contact with the local NSPCC committee representative and we felt it was appropriate to bring businesses and people together for such a good cause."

Lucy said "I believe, like Judy, that working in partnership with other businesses and organisations benefits everyone, and with so many lovely shops in the village, and Judy's connection with the NSPCC, and my gallery space we wanted to put together an event as 'something to look forward to' after the post Christmas lull."

Champagne, prosecco and cava will be available from Portland Wine along with chocolate tasting and gift ideas from Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe.

The Alderley Bar and Grill are offering a Valentine's Day romantic dinner menu, with a complimentary glass of prosecco for each guest, and there will be a selection of romantic and creative arrangements from the Potting Shed.

Bebb & Sekers will also be showcasing a selection of vibrant oil paintings by German born Guido Frick.

Lucy added "Guido has exhibited widely across Europe, Switzerland and the States and he has a unique loose very confident style that combines simple compositions with a wonderfully vibrant colour palette. He paints almost entirely outdoors and his work always seems to shine with sunlight."

The Alderley Edge Valentine's Event will take place on Thursday, 9th February, from 5.30pm to 7.30 pm at Bebb & Sekers Fine Art, 48b London Road.

Tickets, costing £5 each, are available from Portland Wine, Mr Simms, Bebb & Sekers or the Potting Shed.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the NSPCC.
